Singapore, China Sign Pact on Traditional Medicine

Singapore and China signed a pact Saturday aimed at cooperating more closely in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, the government said.

Singaporean and Chinese officials signed the memorandum of understanding in Beijing, Singapore's Health Ministry said in a statement.

The two sides agreed to share expertise in developing and regulating traditional Chinese medicine, which includes the practice of acupuncture.

Singapore will also train personnel from China in health management, the statement said.

The pact also called for the setting up of a joint committee to oversee the bilateral exchange of information on the practice and regulation of Chinese traditional medicine. The committee will meet once a year.
