Up to 38 projects, involving contracts worth about 15 billion yuan (US$1.81 billion), have been signed at the 2000 Beijing Chaoyang International Commercial Business Festival, which ended Friday.
As the first of its kind in the Chinese capital, the festival has attracted business delegations from 15 domestic cities and three overseas cities, as well as numerous businessmen and companies from both at home and abroad, with the total number of visitors to the festival estimated to be over 30,000 daily.
During the four-day festival, a number of Chinese and overseas economists, government officials and experts on the construction of Central Business District (CBD) have gathered to discuss the construction of Beijing's CBD.
Zhang Mao, deputy mayor of Beijing, made a speech at the closing ceremony, saying that the festival unveiled the curtain of building Beijing's CBD, and will play a positive role in promoting the city's modernization drive.
