Japanese Artist Holds Show Exposing War AtrocitiesA Japanese artist is holding a painting exhibition in Nanjing exposing the two massacres that happened during World War II.On display are Shijeo Kamada's 27 paintings about the Nanjing Massacre, in which Japanese aggressors brutally killed 300,000 people in 1937, and atrocities at the Auschwitz concentration camp, where the Nazis murdered an estimated 1.5 million men, women and children. The show, which opened on August 13 in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, is in memory of the 55th anniversary of world's anti-fascist victory and China's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan (1937-1945). Kamada, a well-known artist in Fukuoka-ken, held a similar show in Japan last December. Japanese people should deal with the historical facts with conscience and honesty, have a deep self-reflection and honestly develop friendly relationships with people in other Asian countries, he said. |
