Beijing Displays "Nanjing Massacre" Oil Painting

A large oil paint, the "Nanjing Massacre" was on show Friday in the Museum of Chinese Revolution in Beijing.

It is one of Li Zijian's more than 100 oil paintings. Qian Qichen, vice-premier of the State Council, together with the other ministry officials attended Friday's opening ceremony.

The painting has been on display in nearly 20 countries including the United States, Germany, France, Britain, Brazil, Malaysia and Singapore.

Born in central China's Hunan province in 1954, Li took up painting as an early age. He emigrated to US in 1988.

About 300,000 Chinese civilians and Chinese soldiers were killed during the Nanjing Massacre in 1937.

Li said the exhibit in Beijing will last till September 10. Then the painting will be taken to Shanghai, Changsha and Guangzhou.
