New Measures to Attract Foreign Investment to the West

China will give more opportunities to foreign investors, so that to attract more overseas investment, said Li Zibin, deputy-director of the State Development Planning Commission.

Speaking at a news briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said that the state will soon introduce a series of new measures, including expanding overseas ventures' business scopes and allow competent firms to be listed in China's A share and B share stock markets.

Moreover, it is learnt that the unified policy to develop China's west, now in the pipeline, will also include preferential policies for overseas investors.

China's central and western regions will be able to decide their own strategies to draw foreign investment.

Overseas investors will also be encouraged to set up research and development centers in western regions, so that to help the technological innovation in the area.
