More Flower Festivals China Next Year

China will hold three large flower festivals in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Shunde in south China's Guangdong Province next year to promote the development of its flower industry.

The sponsor of the three events, the Chinese Florists Association, has already planned four flower festivals this year, Zhang Yinchao, deputy-director of the exhibition department of the association said during a meeting Thursday.

Hortiflora Expo China, the most professional flower fair in China will be in Shanghai from April 4 to 7 and the other two events, China International Ikebana Art Expo and China Flower Fair will be held respectively in Shenzhen and Shunde at the end of April and late September next year.

The planting area of flowers in China ranks first in the world, but the country's annual export volume of flowers is only 100 million US dollars, ranking 22nd in the world, said Zhang.

He said that China expects to increase flower exports through festivals.
