Beijing All Out for 2008 Olympics
A 2008 Olympics application work meeting was held in Beijing August 17. Jia Qinglin, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, requested every municipal department realize the full significance of application for 2008 Olympics to be held in helping Beijing push for reform, opening up and modernization construction.
Full back is needed without doubt. Everybody in Beijing should do his bit and make it his bounden duty to lend a helping hand to greatly push ahead with all construction work in contribution to Beijing's 2008 Olympics application work.
After Vice Mayor Liu Jingmin told about Beijing's Olympics application work, Mayor Liu Qi set forth the following commitments as part of the efforts to be made for applying 2008 Olympics to be held in Beijing:
1) Go on with environment construction focusing on endeavors for a clean fresh air.
2) Speed up Olympic gym construction and other necessary supporting works.
3) Intensify work for environment protection and improved city image for Beijing.
4) Upgrade Beijing's service work and civilized images by window industries.
On top of all those said above, all-round social mobilization and publicizing work are demanded in the whole municipality of Beijing.
Jia Qinglin finally called on the whole meeting to make a success Beijing's 2008 Olympics application, adding that it will be a rare hard-won opportunity for a fine image to be had and a beneficial international environment to be created in facilitating Beijing's trans-century development.
