China Launches First Agricultural E-Commerce Website

China Thursday launched its first agricultural e-commerce website http://6688.ccec.com in northeastern Jilin Province.

The website, operated by the Jilin provincial government and China Commercial Trade Center, will provide services including information, news, on-line contracts, accounting and product distribution. The website will also regularly issue statistics.

Niu Guotai, official in charge of local grain production, said lack of information once hindered the local agricultural development. The website will now allow local farmers to keep up with the latest world grain market.

Six of the country's ten major grain yield counties are located in Jilin. Another on-line grain trading website http://js.ccec.com also opened Thursday.
