Gore, Lieberman Formally Nominated for White House

US Democratic National Convention delegates Wednesday night officially nominated Al Gore for president, his running mate Joe Lieberman for vice-president.

Democratic delegates in Los Angeles Staple Center began the roll call of states late Wednesday evening and Vice President Gore and Connecticut Senator Lieberman easily won the support from almost all the delegates.

Lieberman has already accepted vice presidential candidacy with a speech criticizing Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush.

He said the Republican ticket had no idea how to protect the environment, fix the health care system, reform education or cut taxes for the middle class.

Gore is scheduled to accept the nomination Thursday night.
