China, Australia Willing to Enhance Understanding on Human RightsChina and Australia expressed their willingness to enhance mutual understanding through dialogue and cooperation at the fourth round of human rights dialogue which was held in Canberra Tuesday and Wednesday.The Chinese delegation, headed by Vice-Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, exchanged views on human rights with the Australian officials on the basis of equality and mutual respect. Both parties reaffirmed the significance of taking an objective approach on the issue of human rights and reached agreements on further cooperation on the issue. They described the fourth round of human rights dialogue as constructive, which has promoted mutual understanding, and were willing to further the dialogue. The dialogue was instituted in 1997.
