China Makes Breakthrough in Router Production

The American company Cisco, which has enjoyed a long time monopoly in China's router market, is now facing a challenge. Maipu Information Technologies Group in Chengdu has successfully developed China's own copyrighted router products, one of the key components of the Internet. The Sichuan Technology Department has reviewed the technology and said that its level is comparable to the world's most advanced routers.

Routers are one of the most crucial equipment of the Internet. It exchanges and categorizes information from different network, acting as a switchboard for data bits. So far, most of China's router market has been occupied by Cisco.

For a long time, Maipu has paid a great deal of attention to the domestic router market. After many years, it has successfully developed its own routers with its own copyright. So far, its products have been used in the financial, public security and postal departments.

The router produced by Maipu has reportedly been listed as one of the key state technology innovation projects by the State Economic and Trade Commission. Its " safe router" has also been included in the Ministry of Science and Technology's "863" plan.

A spokesman for Maipu said in an interview that the company will try its best to industrialize the production of routers. It plans to break Cisco's monopoly on the Chinese market within three to five years.
