Central Drama Institute to Mark Founding Anniversary
The Central Drama Institute, the first institution of higher learning for drama and opera in New China, will celebrate its 50th founding anniversary from early September to mid-October.
The institute announced at a news conference today the start of their first fundraising banquet on September 20.
The banquet, to be jointly held by the institute and China Charity Federation, will be part of the institute's celebration program which also includes an international drama festival and a series of exhibitions and seminars.
The institute is where a large group of famous Chinese artists were trained.
Currently, the institute has over 6,000 students including doctoral candidates and those studying to get their master's degrees in five departments, which are performance, direction, drama-writing, stage decoration and TV art.
It also has four research centers on Chinese and foreign artists, according to sources from the school.
