Shenzhen Customs Chief Kicked out of Party for Corruption

Former head of Shenzhen Customs, Zhao Yucun, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and discharged from public employment for bribery charges that have been brought against him, according to a notice issued by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Wednesday.

Along with his wife and daughter, Zhao reportedly has taken more than 9.17 million yuan (about 1.1 million U.S. dollars) worth of goods and cash in bribes since 1995.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline and the Ministry of Supervision also made decisions to transfer him to the judicial department for prosecution.

The notice points out that Zhao abused his power to help a couple of smugglers make illicit profits, inflicting heavy economic losses on the state.
