Sales by Asia's Top Passenger Car Plant to Increase by 70 Percent

Sales revenue by the Changchun Railway Passenger Car Plant, the largest one in Asia, are expected to increase by nearly 70 percent to 3 billion yuan (361 million US dollars) this year.

Liu Jingfang, vice-director of the plant, said the plant expected to sell 1,600 railway passenger cars, a record high and one third more than its average annual sales.

The plant expanded its capacity of producing 1,200 railway passenger cars annually this year to meet surging domestic demands for the cars.

The total sales volume for last year was 1.78 billion yuan (214 million US dollars), Liu said.

The plant is also capable of producing 160 subway passenger cars annually, and fixing 300 railway and subway passenger cars each year.

Subway passenger cars are being used in subway systems in Beijing, Teheran, the capital of Iran, and several other cities.
