Beijing to Host Qinghua vs Cambridge Boat Race

The Qinghua vs Cambridge Boat Race will be staged at the Kunyu River here on Saturday, a contest between the most prestigious universities in China and Britain.

It is the first ever boat race between Sino-Britain universities and designed to greet the one-year countdown to the 21st World University Games, to be held next year here.

The Cambridge University sent an 11-member squad, including four among the team which won the well-known Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race early this year.

The Qinghua team, whose history could date back to the 1950s, also beat Beida in a Chinese version of the Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race in May to qualify for the competition.
