Yahoo Ranks First for Home Internet Users in HK

An Internet measurement company announced on Tuesday among Hong Kong's 20 top websites in July for home Internet users, Yahoo ranked first with 884,000 unique users.

The report, said to be the first-ever user-based Internet usage report for Greater China, was made by Internet measurement company Iamasia based on the total number of unique users during the month of July 2000.

Following Yahoo, Netvigator.com and Hongkong.com won second and third places among the top 20, with 672,000 and 627,000 unique users.

Info.gov.hk also entered Iamasia's top 20 websites list, ranking 13th with 413,000 unique users. Sina.com.hk ranked 16th, with 314,000 unique users in the single month of July.

Iamasia, founded in 1999, is a provider of intelligence on Internet usage in the Asia Pacific region.

The information used for Iamasia's Hong Kong top 20 list is based on data collected from the company's representative panel of home Internet users in Hong Kong.
