Sixty Middle School Teachers Sent from Shanghai in Support of Education in Yunnan

Shanghai has sent 60 middle school teachers to Yunnan to help raise the education level in the province. This was announced at the send-off meeting held by Shanghai education committee August 15.

Shanghai has taken an active attitude in carrying out the Shanghai-Yunnan support plan for education. As from this September on, Shanghai will, in four successive years, send teachers to work in 15 middle schools in Yunnan province to help enhance the education level there. This is a great move by the education circles of Shanghai for supporting and participating in the strategy of great development in the west.

Among the 60 teachers, most of them are Party and Youth League members, and 51 teachers are under 40 years old, accounting for 85% of those being dispatched. Apart from teaching there, these teachers will also take up the work of management and training local teachers.
