China to Make Clear Japanese "731" Germ Test SiteChina will as from this month on make a complete clear-up the remains of the germ warfare testing base by the Japanese "731" troop, the largest in scale and the most inhuman one in history. The clearance project at an estimated cost of about 100 million yuan has been approved by the State Bureau of Cultural Relics (SBCR). The official of the SBCR said that China will make it a permanent site, a special and significant site that marks the World War II and will apply for the world cultural heritage. Established at the command of Japanese supreme authorities the "731" troop is a contingent for secret germ warfare. Its research center was set up in Harbin in 1932. The troop conducted such experiments, the most inhuman and cold-blooded as vivisection and plague germ cultivation on the bodies of more than 10,000 Chinese, Soviet, Korean war-prisoners and civilians, and then used these "research results" on the battle-fields, tolling a casualty of more than 200,000 people. At that time this troop had already been able to produce the germ weapon, which could destroy the human beings for several times. As learned by the end of the World War II, the Japanese troop blew up most of its infrastructure and transferred its experiment materials to the American army in order to clear away evidences of crimes. Later, this was used in Korean and Vietnamese wars, thereby exerting a vital influence on the study of germ warfare in the western world after the World War II. However, most of the war criminals of the "731" troop have so far escaped from being tried. More than 300 devices used for dissection and germ shrapnel, germ cultivation medium container have been discovered by China. But due to various reasons, separation protection hasn't been done at the site, and the broken and smashed walls extended over 6 square km and underground infrastructure are faced with the erosion of modern construction.
