PLA Chief of General Staff Meets Greek Guests
Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met Monday with Chorafas Evangelos, director general of Cabinet of Greek Defense Minister, and his delegation.
Fu, who is also a member of the Central Military Commission, noted that the Chinese government and army have attached importance to developing friendship and cooperation with their Greek counterparts. Both sides can work together to bring a long-term and stable relationship into the 21st century on the basis of equality, mutual respect and benefit.
Fu said he believes that Chorafas' China visit will further promote mutual understanding between the two armed forces, thus contributing to the growth of their relations.
Fu also briefed the guests on China's political and economic situation and its army building.
Chorafas said that the Greek army hopes to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese army, noting that Greece supports the Chinese government's stance on the Taiwan issue and China's reunification, and will continue to pursue the one China policy.
The Greek guests arrived here on August 12 on a six-day official visit to China at the invitation of Chinese Defense Ministry.
