Cambodian Leader Pledges to Stick to One China Policy

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said Monday morning that his government maintains the one China policy.

Meeting a delegation of the Yunnan Provincial People's Congress, headed by Chairman Yin Jun, Hun Sen highly appreciated the principles China has been following of non-interference in the internal affairs of and peaceful coexistence with other countries.

The development and the growing power of China have played an important role in maintaining stability in the Asia-Pacific area, Hun Sen said.

He also praised China for maintaining the value of its currency, the Renminbi, during the financial crisis which broke out in Asia in 1997, saying this has contributed to the relaxation of the crisis.

The Yunnan delegation arrived here Sunday for an official visit at the invitation of the National Assembly of Cambodia.
