6 Die in Macao's Traffic Accidents in 1st Half Year

A total of six people died in traffic accidents in Macao during the first half of this year, the latest official statistics show.

There were 4,014 traffic accidents from January to June, leaving six people dead, 142 severely injured and 926 slightly injured. In the accidents, 7,446 vehicles were damaged.

The number of accidents rose 4.7 percent over that of same period last year, and the number of deaths and injuries increased 5.5 percent.

Official statistics show that there were nearly 11,000 vehicles by the end of June this year, about 45 percent of which were light-duty vehicles and the rest were motor vehicles and heavy vehicles.
