Tibet Witnesses Stable Development in First Half

Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region witnessed steady economic development in the first half of the year as a result of improvement in local production conditions and implementation of agricultural science-technology projects.

The region has planted 232,000 hectares of crops this year, an increase of 0.5 percent over last year. Eight thousand hectares of trees were planted in the first six months this year, and more than 32,200 hectares of mountains have been fenced up for tree planting.

The acreage of improved crops has exceeded 16,400 hectares, accounting for 71 percent of the region's total farmland.
