China's PC Exports Hit Record High in First Six Months
China's computer exports enjoyed a record year-on-year 665.63 percent growth to hit 967,900 units, valued at 384.94 million US dollars in the first half of this year.
At the same time, China's computer imports dropped 8.73 percent with a total value of 44.77 million US dollars according to Sunday's "China Daily,"
"The computer trade is going a steady and healthy way, but there are still problems," said Wang Shuangxian, an official of the Ministry of Information Industry (MII).
Wang said large room exists between the average value of exported computers and imported units. The average value of an exported computer was only 397.71 US dollars, much lower than 1,677.98 US dollars averaged for an imported computer.
China turned out 2.88 million computers from January to June this year and it is estimated that the computer output for the whole year will surpass five million units.
China's imports of computers and related external products from the U.S. reaching 914.58 million US dollars from January to June this year, with the export volume reaching 2.13 billion US dollars.
This means that the U.S. still maintains the position as China's top computer trade partner.
The top five destinations of China's computer exports are the U.S., Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Japan, and Singapore, according to MII.
