Colombian Army Kills Four Rebels

Four rebels were killed and two others detained on Saturday in confrontations between the Colombian army and the guerrillas in northeast Colombia, military authorities said.

The troops destroyed a camp of the second largest guerrilla group -- National Liberation Army (ELN), seized 70 land mines, two rifles, 5,000 rounds of ammunition and 50 kilograms of explosives.

An army soldier died in the fighting, according to military authorities.

Two members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, the biggest guerrilla organization in the country, were killed in clashes with the army in the mountainous areas of El Carmen de Atrato, Choco department.
