Chinese Life Insurance Congress Opens in HK
The Third World-wide Chinese Life Insurance Congress opened Friday in Hong Kong to provide a platform for Chinese speaking people engaged in life insurance business to share experience and views.
The three-day congress, entitled "Back to Basic - Towards the Next Millennium," drew some 3,000 life insurance experts from 23 countries and regions, including the Chinese mainland, China's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the United States and Australia.
The main topics of the congress include the challenges and impact on the insurance business after China's entry into the World Trade Organization, said organizer of the congress, Taiwan-based IMM International Group.
Elsie Leung Oi-sie, secretary for justice of the Hong Kong government, who is among the officiating guests of the congress, praised the contributions by world-wide Chinese life insurance professionals to the society.
The biennial congress was launched in Taiwan in 1996 and the second one was held in Malaysia in 1998.
