Exhibition Revives 100-year Hong Kong Fashion

Can you image seeing under one roof almost all the smartest clothes over the past 100 years, even including the long gown worn by men of the early 1900s and the Chinese tunic suit?

An exhibition inaugurated in Hong Kong Friday by the Hong Kong Arts Center breathed life to 100 years' Hong Kong fashion, showing almost all the fashionable clothes in the past century, as a new millennium celebration.

Co-curated by famed Hong Kong designer William Tang and based on detailed research, the exhibition, running from August 12 to 29, includes original dresses of different eras during the 20th century. Supporting the exhibition are also historical photographs, digital images and a fashion show.

Attempted to reflect the cultural heritage and artistic achievement through the study of popular culture, the exhibition will produce an enriching experience for learning the social and cultural development of Hong Kong, organizers of the exhibition said.
