Konka Announcing Big Price Cut

Chinese TV giant Konka Group announced Friday a sharpest price cut in recent two years with a slash up to 20 per cent and a maximum reduction hitting 1,000 yuan (US$120).

The cut is mainly for its well-received types of 34-inch and 29-inch TV sets, as well as some 25-inch and 21-inch products, said Konka.

The Shenzhen-based group said the price slicing is a normal sales action in accordance with market demand and enterprise strength.

Ye Tao, director of Konka Beijing said so far, his branch has received cutting notice for a dozen of models, including some popular types of T2983 and 2985. He affirmed some of his TV prices are lower than the average cost price designed by the recent TV Summit which stopped the "minimum price" drive.

Ye reiterated that Konka's price cut is aimed at better satisfying customers' demand through normative price and business strength.

It is learnt that Rowa Group, another member of the TV Summit, will also slash the price of 1,000 34-inch super-flat color TV sets from 5,900 yuan (US$713) to 4,990 yuan (US$603).
