The Ministry of Railways said Friday the sector earned 305 million yuan daily on average in July, up 11.8 percent from the same period last year.
Of the total, income from train tickets accounted for 107 million yuan, while cargo transport made up 153 million yuan.
China's railways carried 2.87 million passengers daily in July, an increase of 0.8 percent over the same period in 1999. The daily cargo transport volume stood at 78,136 carriages, up 9.4 percent.
According to the Ministry, container transport volume reached 3.17 million tons.
