China's Military Eyes Hi-tech in Drills

Warfare in the future will become more high-tech and the Chinese military is conducting drills focused on fighting against high-tech weapons like stealth planes, cruise missiles and armed helicopters.

The drills also devote equal attention to enhancing their defense capabilities against precision strikes, electronic interference, reconnaissance and monitoring, military sources said.

The new round of drills will enable the Chinese military to catch up with the high-tech developments, and will have far-reaching significance on its success in future wars, the sources

said.

The drills also marked an enormous shift from the previous round of drills.

In the 1970s, the focus of the Chinese military drills were directed toward fights against tanks, planes and airborne forces, and defense against A-bombs, chemical and biological weapons.

At present, the Chinese military are trying their best to achieve good results from the drills, and military leaders have seen noticeable improvement in some units.
