HK Foundation Sponsors Computer Education in Hunan

The Hong Kong International Foundation for Culture and Education is to offer 90 million yuan (over 10.8 million U.S. dollars) to set up computer classrooms in 500 middle schools in this capital of central China's Hunan Province.

The foundation Thursday made the announcement to promote computer education in the region.

Local schools are now busy installing computer equipment to the value of over 20 million yuan (about 2.5 million U.S. dollars). Advanced multi-media software items are also provided by the HK side.

All teaching equipment sponsored by the foundation will be given gratis to local middle schools after three years, according to the foundation's executive president Feng Danli.

The Foundation is dedicated to the promotion of cultural exchanges between China and other countries, as well as the development of education in China's inland areas.
