Exhibition on Striking Economic Crimes to Be Held in Beijing

The Beijing Municipal Government will hold an exhibition on exposing economic crimes from August 12 to September 20.

More than 1,000 photos and confiscated items will be displayed at the 3,500-square-meter exhibition hall, Duan Guiqing, deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of Political Science and Law, said at a press conference held Thursday.

The exhibition aims to publicize the government policy on exposing economic crimes and help the Chinese to have a better understanding of the legal system.

The exhibition will be divided into three parts. The first section offers a general introduction of Beijing's crack-down on economic crimes, the second depicts 70 typical cases of crimes exposed in recent years including the case of bribery committed by Cheng Kejie, former vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress. The third provides a summary of economic crimes and preventative measures to deal with such crimes.

Videotapes recording the court hearings for economic crime cases will be broadcast on large screens during the exhibition.
