Seoul, Pyongyang to Reopen Liaison Offices MondaySouth Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Thursday agreed to reopen inter-Korean liaison offices at the truce village of Panmunjom Monday.Through the telephone at Panmunjom, South Korean Unification Minister Park Jae-kyu and DPRK senior cabinet councilor Jon Kum-jin agreed to reopen the offices, which have been closed since 1996, the South Korean news media reported. The two sides will place seven officials at their respective offices in the Freedom House and Panmungak in the truce village. Officials from the two sides held a separate meeting at Panmunjom Thursday to discuss how to operate the offices, a Unification Ministry spokesman was cited as saying. |
