CAS to Inject 1.5 Billion Yuan for ConstructionFirst-class scientific research institution needs the best environment. The CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) has planed to input 1.5 billion yuan for reconstructing its research institutes and putting up residential quarters for its floating members in Beijing and Shanghai, according to the report from the inaugurating ceremony of the CAS research buildings.Due to various reasons, some laggard infrastructure and outmoded equipment in some of the CAS research institutes could no longer meet the needs of creation and innovation of modern science and technology. The research area to be constructed includes the software, biology and some other sectors of sciences. Lu Yongxiang, President of the CAS said the improvement of environment will help lay a solid foundation for realizing innovation goal designed by the CAS. Two thirds of experimental research parks will be made to reach the level of medium-developed countries with the research level of 20 to 30 institutes being expected to approach towards that of the world advanced level, and two to five institutes to hit the world level within a period of time. |
