Russia Steps Up Strikes Against Chchen Rebels After Blast

Russia has stepped up air and ground strikes against rebels in Chechnya, killing scores of militants after a terrorist blast in central Moscow on Tuesday.

The blast killed seven people and injured nearly a hundred others.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has pledged to find and punish the perpetrators of the bomb explosion.

He said in a statement Wednesday that Russia's military operation in the North Caucasus would be pursued to its completion and the terrorists finished off in their breeding grounds.

Moscow police have issued four sketches of people wanted for questioning in relation to the bombing.

They are also on high alert to guard important installations, crowded areas, as well as residential districts.

Meanwhile, a prosecutor said two men detained earlier by security forces have not been directly linked to the explosion.
