Macao SAR to Remain Close Ties with Portugal

The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China will continue to strengthen ties with Portugal, said Tong Chi Kin, spokesman for the Executive Council of the Macao SAR.

The Executive Council had decided at a meeting on Thursday that the Macao SAR's Liaison Office in Lisbon will be renamed Economic and Trade Office, Tong said.

"However, there will be no major changes as to the functions and responsibilities of the office, which shall continue to enhance exchanges between Macao SAR and Portugal," he said.

The Executive Council will also discuss the future organizational structure of the office to make its work more effective, Tong Chi Kin said at a short news briefing.
