Henan Police Arrest Rare Animal Traffickers

Police of Henan Province, central China, have arrested three suspects involved in trafficking more than 90 giant salamanders and over 30 civets, two species which are protected by the state and province.

Local police also found other wild animals such as turtle doves and snakes among the civets.

Acting on a tip-off, local police detained Chen Jincai, from south China's Guangdong Province, at the Nanyang Airport where Chen was planning to take these rare animals to Guangdong and sell them.

Chen said that he bought these animals from Xiao Xinxian and Wang Guimei, both from Zhenping County in Henan Province.

All the animals will be sent back to their native surroundings soon.
