International Women's Beach Volleyball Tour Hits Dalian

The International Women's Beach Volleyball Tour competition was held in Dalian yesterday. Because many foreign players didn't participate, the qualifying matches ended being between only the Chinese players.

The competition is the last stop before the qualifying matches for the Olympics begin. But because most players who play in the Olympics have already been decided, the number of players that actually showed up was less than the number who registered. The four foreign players in the tournament automatically qualified without having to play in the qualifying matches.

Eight pairs of Chinese teams played in the qualifying matches. Originally six teams were supposed to advance but because two teams pulled out due to injuries, all the eight teams could play in the tournament. The tournament committee has not made a final decision yet.

The Chi Rong/Xiong Zi team who have already qualified for the Olympics, will the Zhang Jingkun/Tian Jia team who hope to go to the Olympics. Thus, ten Chinese teams could conceivably play in this tournament. The tournament is being held at the national beach volley training center in Dalian Gold Sand Beach National Tourist Area. It will conclude August 13.
