Every Year Sees 80,000 Foreign Experts Invited to Work in China
Nearly 80,000 foreign experts are invited to work in China every year, according to the news from the symposium on soliciting foreign intellectuals held in Nanjing August 8 by the State Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs under the Ministry of Personnel.
China also sends 40, 000 technical and management personnel every year to receive training in alien lands, according to the symposium.
Wan Xueyuan, Director of State Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs, said by the turn of the century when the globalization of, and knowledge-oriented, economy is booming up, China's solicitation work for talents should be focused on the core of economic construction. Attention should be paid further to the switchover of economic system and the way for economic growth. In touting for foreign experts, China is reported to put the stress first on agriculture, followed by the large and medium-sized state-owned enterprises. Active attitude will be taken in securing a strategy for a sustainable development in China's central and western regions and vigorous support be given to the development of education, science and technology so as to better serve the strategy of rejuvenating the country by science, technology and education. Attention must also be given to nurturing the leaders, cadres, management and technical talents.
