Hong Kong Comics Festival Draws Young Fans

A comics festival and cyber carnival drawing the attention of local comics fans opened Wednesday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.

Tens of thousands of boys and girls lined up for hours for the admission to this year's comics festival before it opened in the morning despite the hot weather.

It was estimated that over 350,000 youngsters and comics funs will visit the five-day festival. The first comics festival last year drew a total of 220,000 attendants.

The festival this year is accompanied by a cyber carnival to meet the youngster's new demands for comics on Internet, according to its organizers. A series of activities including contests and shows will be held during the festival, they said.
