Cities Busy Preparing for China Art Gala

Cities Busy Preparing for China Art Gala
This capital of Jiangsu Province is busy making preparations for the 12-day China Art Gala, which is due to open on September 28.

Since 1998, Nanjing has been engaged in building the Nanjing Cultural and Art Center, the largest art center in the province, and renovating several other theaters in the city.

Meanwhile, preparations are also under way in four other

Jiangsu cities -- Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou and Yangzhou -- which are sub-hosts of the festival.

Nearly 30 theaters are being built or renovated in the five cities, according to local officials.

To create greater public awareness both at home and abroad, the organizer is advertising the art gala via newspapers, the Internet and radio and television broadcasts.

Besides art performances, the festival will also launch a number of art exhibitions, symposiums on art, and trade talks.
