Exhibition Room in Beijing to Show Macao's Patriotism

People in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China have been called on to donate commemorative data and objects which reflect local residents' patriotism in China's war of resistance against Japan in the 1930s and '40s.

Such data and objects will be placed in a special exhibition room inside the Memorial Hall of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in Beijing. The exhibition room is expected to open on December 20 this year which marks the one-year anniversary of the founding of the Macao SAR.

Two exhibition rooms showing the patriotic deeds of the Chinese compatriots in Hong Kong and Taiwan against Japanese aggression had been opened in July 1998 and July 1999, respectively.

During the war against Japanese aggression, Macao residents had shown strong patriotic enthusiasm in supporting the motherland. The exhibition room will help younger generations better to understand the close ties between Macao and the motherland, said Lee Shing Chun, president of the Macao Daily News. Lee used to be a patriotic activist during the war period.
