ACWW to Hold Women's Conference in Shenyang

The Sixth Area Conference for Southeast Asia and the Far East of the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) will be held from August 31 to September 6 in Shenyang, capital city of Liaoning Province, northeast China.

As a non-governmental organization, the ACWW, which was founded in 1930 in Vienna and now based in London, is operating under the guidance and support of the Women's International Democratic Federation.

Participants of the conference this year are ACWW representatives from the Philippines, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Brunei, South Africa, Norway and several other countries.

Major topics of the conference include relations between modern agricultural technology and human subsistence and women's participation in economic construction.

The ACWW organizes a conference every three years. The last ACWW conference was held in the Republic of Korea in 1997.
