Dotnet Makes Surfing Easier

China's flagship software developer, the Kingsoft Corp, has unveiled an Internet Office system allowing computer users to use the Web much more easily.

The iWPS.net intelligent Internet platform is the country's first package of ".net'' software following Microsoft's decision to develop Microsoft.net, software that enables people to control over how, when and what information is delivered to them.

Announcing the "China Software.net'' plan Tuesday in Beijing, Qiu Bojun, CEO of the Zhuhai-based company, said Kingsoft will evolve from a software vendor to an Internet application service provider, with its key applications capable of running on a range of Internet terminals within five years.

Different from the conventional Internet-based applications, the iWPS.net platform boasts an intelligent and integrated office system that allows users to churn out documents, spreadsheets and photographs, and make pages and slide shows on one piece of equipment, according to Qiu.

All office documents, even those containing both words and graphics, can be displayed in an e-mail and sent through iWPS.net's e-mailing system. The e-mail system can also detect viruses in incoming mails and enables users to delete junk mail or other unsolicited messages in their remote e-mail servers.

The iWPS.net also serves as an Internet browser that uses fewer computer resources compared to other prevailing Internet browsers, and allows Internet surfers to easily locate websites.

The iWPS.net platform is supported by the www.iWPS.net website.
