Returned Students Discuss Globalization Challenges

The Beijing-Based Western Returned Students' Association August 8 opened a seminar in Beijing to discuss challenges arising from globalization and policies to cope with them.

Titled "China in the 21st Century, and Globalization Policies and Challenges", the three-day seminar is being attended by more than 500 scholars from both at home and abroad.

Ding Shisun, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and chairman of the association, Cheng Siwei, vice-chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, and Wang Zhaoguo, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the opening ceremony of the seminar.

The seminar will focus on economic globalization, the knowledge-based economy, biological technology, the development of China's western region, the World Trade Organization, education, the opening up of overseas talent resources, the Internet and websites, the capital market and the industrialization of high-technology.
