China Holds Youth Innovation Competition

A tiny robot and a foot-operated computer mouse invented by young Chinese have won the first prize of a national innovation competition.

The 10th China National Student Innovation Competition, which ended here Monday, drew 2,361 inventions, papers, science fiction stories, and innovation programs by youngsters from all over China.

Besides the two inventions, another 91 works were awarded first prize.

The annual event is designed to boost awareness of the importance of innovation among young people in the country.

Competition organizers said this year's contest demonstrates increasing interest among China's youth in science and technology.
