China Sounds a Breakthrough in Leukemia Study

Chinese scientists have made a great breakthrough in the study of leukemia. They have not only succeeded in separating and cloning a certain number of new virus genes for the first time in the world, but also proven that the new virus genes in human's acute leukemia cells present in a specific way.

Doctor Xu Rongzhen in charge of the study said that they are using modern molecular biotechnology and computer biological information to separate, clone and examine the new virus all-genome, meanwhile the trans-genetic technology is adopted to single out and separate the candidate genes from the anti-virus vaccine.

Scientists remarked should this research be successful, it will lay a foundation for the further study of acute leukovirus etiology in human body and for applying the anti-virus vaccine in the prevention and healing of leukemia. Once virus etiology is proven, human leukemia may not only be prevented by using anti-virus vaccine, but dramatic change will occur in the way of treatment from the current cells killing by chemotherapy to anti-virus treatment.
