China to Build Asia's Largest Bioengineering Base
Invested by Shenzhen Kexing Biological Products Co, the "Biological Valley of Beijing University"- an industrialized bioengineering base, the largest of its kind in Asia is going to be built in Shenzhen.
A person in charge of the company said in Beijing that with a total investment of 700 million yuan, the Biological Valley of Beijing University is a key engineering project to be jointly put up by Shenzhen Municipal Government, Beijing University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The main projects include gene engineering interferon, gene engineering insulin and others, of which the annual production capacity of interferon can reach 100 million capsules, being listed as national demonstration project of high-tech industries by the State Development Planning Commission.
Kexing Company is a modern bioengineering high-tech enterprise, also the largest industrialized gene-engineering base. In recent years, the company has quickened its paces in industrializing its high-tech achievements, the gene engineering interferon produced by the company being the first of its kind in the world by adopting Chinese gene.
Experts say that the establishment of the Biological Valley of Beijing University will make great contributions to China's industrialization of the results in biotechnology.
