Tianjin to Lure More Foreign Investment

North China's largest port city, Tianjin, plans to attract more foreign investment with newly measures, the latest Sino-Japan seminar indicated.

Tianjin will concentrate on introducing more foreign capitals in about 25 key projects of information, biology, new energy and materials and other hi-tech sectors.

In addition to continuously attracting international big companies, the local government also welcomes the coming of medium-sized and small companies this year, adding that the city will establish an enterprise center this year for their career development.

Moreover, the port city will explore more information accesses, including the Internet, to introduce Tianjin to the world and invite multinational enterprises. At the same time, Tianjin is trying to improve the investment environment and offer better services.

Tianjin used a total of 2.5 billion US dollars of foreign funds and approved 540 foreign-funded enterprises in 1999, swelling the number of foreign-funded enterprises so far established to 12,000, involving a total contractual foreign funds of 25 billion US dollars, statistics showed.
