Seoul, Pyongyang Agree on Media ExchangesSouth and North Korea have agreed on exchanges of media organizations in order to help implement the June 15 Joint Declaration signed by the leaders of the two sides in Pyongyang.The agreement was reached at a meeting between a South Korean media delegation and North Korean officials in Pyongyang on Sunday. At the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of the media's role in the process of promoting inter-Korean reconciliation, national unity and the ultimate reunification. They agreed to form a committee to seek an agreement on the detailed steps of media exchanges. The South Korean delegation, consisting of 46 presidents of newspapers and TV stations, arrived in Pyongyang last Saturday for a eight-day visit. |
