Children Learn English from Foreign InstructorsFor many primary and secondary school students in Xuhui District, Shanghai, this summer vacation turns out to be a good chance of English training from native English-speakers.Xuhui District is one of the districts with the highest literacy level in Shanghai. With the deepening of China's reform and opening-up, the district government has paid more attention on foreign language education. It is the first in Shanghai that let children begin English learning since their first year in school, and invites foreign teachers to give lectures every year since 1998. This year the Education Department of Xuhui District has invited 14 foreign teachers to carry out a three-week training among its 320 kindergartens and primary and secondary schools. |
